EDINBURG, Texas – Rio Grande Valley Sector (RGV) Border Patrol agents disrupted three human smuggling attempts over the holiday weekend.
Yesterday, RGV agents working along Farm to Market (FM) Road 1017 near La Gloria, Texas, attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a Ford F250. The driver of the F250 abruptly veered off the road and drove through a nearby ranch fence. Once the vehicle came to a stop, agents observed several subjects fleeing into the brush. A search of the immediate area resulted in the apprehension of thirteen illegal aliens. The driver of the vehicle was not apprehended.
Two other smuggling attempts were also foiled by Border Patrol agents during the holiday weekend.
Border Patrol processed all cases and subjects accordingly.
Even with the spread of the COVID-19 virus, human smugglers continue to try these brazen attempts with zero regard for the lives they endanger nor to the health of the citizens of our great nation. The U.S. Border Patrol agents of the Rio Grande Valley Sector will continue to safeguard the nation and community against these criminal elements.
