Border Patrol agents seize more than $1 million worth of marijuana

FALFURRIAS, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol agents from the Rio Grande Valley Sector seized more than 1,100 pounds of marijuana Tuesday at the Falfurrias Checkpoint on U.S. Highway 281. 

The seizure occurred when a man approached the checkpoint in a Dodge pickup truck towing a trailer. During an immigration inspection, a Border Patrol K-9 alerted to the vehicle. Upon further inspection, agents found bundles of marijuana, with a weight of more than 1,100 lbs. The marijuana has an estimated street value of $903K.

That same afternoon, Brownsville agents working in coordination with the Texas Department of Public Safety thwarted a narcotics smuggling attempt and seized over 287 pounds of marijuana near Los Fresnos, Texas. The marijuana has an estimated street value of $230K.
