Border Patrol Agents Seize 900 pounds of Marijuana

EDINBURG, Texas – Over a span of three days, Rio Grande Valley Sector Border Patrol (RGV) agents seized more than $712K worth of marijuana in failed narcotics smuggling attempts.  

Early Sunday morning, Rio Grande City Border Patrol (RGC) agents working near Escobares, Texas, detected an illegal entry in the form of multiple shoe prints heading north from the Rio Grande. Agents followed the prints and observed four individuals carrying bundles of narcotics. Agents were able to apprehend all four subjects and seized four bundles of marijuana.  The marijuana weighed over 186 pounds and is worth an estimated $149K.  The subjects and narcotics were turned over to the Star County Sheriff’s Office for prosecution.  

Yesterday morning, RGC agents working near Fronton, Texas, received a report of multiple individuals loading bundles of suspected narcotics into a Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV).  As agents responded to the area, they observed the vehicle abandoned on the side of the road. Agents discovered 61 bundles of marijuana inside the SUV.  The marijuana weighs approximately 704 pounds and has a value of $563K.  Agents searched the immediate area for suspects; however no subjects were located.  The marijuana was turned over to the Drug Enforcement Agency.

Additionally, RGV Border Patrol agents seized more than ten pounds of marijuana, 642 grams of CBD Oil, 305 grams of THC edible candies, and 1,669 grams of mushrooms in two separate events.
