A Border Patrol rescue beacon located in the Santa Ana Wildlife Refuge near Alamo, Texas, was activated. The beacon’s camera captured an image of a person. Weslaco Border Patrol Station agents immediately responded to the area and located two lost hikers. The hikers stated they were lost for more than four hours prior to finding the rescue beacon. A Border Patrol Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) provided medical attention to the dehydrated hikers before turning them over to the Emergency Medical Services (EMS).
Shortly after, Rio Grande City Border Patrol Station agents working near the Rio Grande City Border Patrol Station (RGC), witnessed a vehicle accident involving a utility bucket truck. Border Patrol EMTs arrived on scene and rendered aid to the driver and passenger of a white Dodge Ram truck. Both occupants had visible injuries, one was hyperventilating and the other unresponsive. Border Patrol EMTs worked quickly to provide oxygen, stabilize them on back boards, and treat visible wounds. Starr County Emergency Medical Service arrived and rushed the occupants to the hospital.
In Roma, Texas, RGC agents encountered an unresponsive female in a neighborhood near the Rio Grande. The Honduran national was accompanied by her daughter, who informed Border Patrol agents of her mother’s medical history. A Border Patrol EMT provided medical care for the child’s mother until EMS arrived. The migrant was transported to the hospital for further evaluation.
