EDINBURG, Texas â€“ U.S. Border Patrol agents stopped three significant marijuana loads in the past few days.

On Sunday evening, Border Patrol agents responded to the report of a red Jeep Cherokee loaded with bundles of narcotics near La Rosita, Texas. As agents searched the area, an air asset from Air and Marine Operations responded and located the red Jeep parked at an abandoned residence. Agents surrounded the vehicle and seized several bundles of marijuana from the abandoned vehicle. The marijuana weighed over 490 pounds and is worth an estimated $393K. 

Last night, agents working near Garceno, Texas, observed a pickup truck parked near the Rio Grande being loaded with bundles of narcotics. As agents approached the vehicle, the smugglers jumped into the river and returned to Mexico. Agents seized the truck and eight bundles of marijuana weighing over 460 pounds, worth an estimated $374K.

Early this morning, McAllen agents responded to the report of several subjects carrying bundle of narcotics near the U.S. riverbank in Los Ebanos, Texas. Responding agents encountered the smugglers as they dropped the bundles and fled to Mexico. A search of the area resulted in the seizure of five large bundle of marijuana weighing over 230 pounds, worth an estimated $186K.
