EDINBURG, Tx – U.S. Border Patrol agents from the Rio Grande Valley Sector continue life-saving efforts.
Saturday morning, RGV agents rescued three migrants in two different locations who were lost in the ranchlands of Brooks County, near Falfurrias, Texas. The migrants called 911 asking for assistance and agents were able to locate them approximately three hour later.
The next day, Kingsville Border Patrol agents rescued a man who called 911 and said he was lost, tired, and wished to be picked up. Agents were able to locate the Honduran national on a local ranch. The man was in good health and did not require medical attention.
The same day, FLF agents received two calls from Brooks County Sheriff’s Office regarding several migrants who were lost in the brush. FLF agents along with the Border Patrol Search Trauma and Rescue unit were dispatched to the area. Several hours later, agents were able to locate four migrants.
This fiscal year, RGV agents have conducted over 800 rescues throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Agents have encountered many distressed migrants who were abandoned by smugglers during their smuggling attempt. Migrants are left behind in desolate areas when they are unable to keep up with the rest of the group.
