EDINBURG, Texas – Over the course of three days, Rio Grande Valley Sector Border Patrol agents arrested a convicted murderer and two additional criminal aliens illegally present in the United States.
Thursday evening, Weslaco Border Patrol Station agents arrested a group of 18 illegal aliens near Donna, Texas. Records checks revealed that one of the subjects, later identified as RIVERA-Perdomo, Isais was arrested by Raleigh law enforcement authorities in Charlotte, North Carolina, in 2006 for indecent liberties with a child. RIVERA-Perdomo was convicted for the crime and sentenced to one year and four months imprisonment.Â
Friday afternoon, McAllen Border Patrol Station (MCS) agents working near Mission, Texas, arrested a group of 14 illegal aliens in a failed smuggling attempt. During processing, record checks on a Mexican national revealed an arrest in 2007 for murder intentionally causing death by the Houston Police Department. The subject was subsequently found guilty and sentenced to 12 years confinement.Â
Saturday morning, MCS agents working near Abram, Texas, arrested a group of 26 subjects attempting to illegally enter the United States. All subjects were taken into custody and transported for processing. At the station, criminal history on one of the subjects, a Mexican national, revealed an arrest in 2011 for criminal sexual conduct by the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety in Kalamazoo, MI. The individual was subsequently found guilty and sentenced to 57 months confinement. Additionally, the man has several immigration violations, including a removal from the country in December of 2020.
Border Patrol processed the subjects accordingly.
Even with the spread of the COVID-19 virus, human smugglers continue to try these brazen attempts with zero regard for the lives they endanger nor to the health of the citizens of our great nation. The U.S. Border Patrol agents of the Rio Grande Valley Sector will continue to safeguard the nation and community against these criminal elements.
