Border Enforcement win as Agents net Close to 800 Pounds of Drugs

Edinburg, Texas – Since Monday, Border Patrol agents foiled three smuggling attempts and seized more than 760 pounds of marijuana.

On Monday evening, Rio Grande Valley Sector Border Patrol agents working near Rio Grande City, Texas, observed multiple drug smugglers walking north from the Rio Grande. As agents attempted to arrest them, the smugglers abandoned the bundles and fled into the nearby brush. Agents seized more than 580 pounds of marijuana worth over $464K. A search of the immediate area for the smugglers and additional bundles yielded negative results. 

The following morning, Rio Grande Valley Sector Border Patrol agents near Escobares, Texas, seized nearly 92 pounds of marijuana after smugglers abandoned it while attempting to avoid apprehension. Agents searched for the smugglers and additional drugs to no avail. The marijuana is valued at over $73K.

In addition, agents seized more than 92 pounds of marijuana in one separate incident near Donna, Texas. The marijuana is valued at over $73K.
