The Classic is scheduled for Friday, October 16 from 6:30 – 10:30 p.m. at Quinta Mazatlan in McAllen.
Boggus Ford Lincoln has come on board to support this year’s Santa Fe Wine Classic. The Classic is held to benefit the McAllen Chamber’s education initiatives. “We are excited to have Bob Boggus participating in the Santa Fe Wine Classic. He was the first to start a scholarship program at the McAllen Chamber many years ago with the Top 10 Scholarship Fund,” said Gerry Garcia, McAllen Chamber Vice President of Special Projects.
“Back then, the Chamber honored the top ten graduating seniors of McHi and Memorial. The program grew to honor the top 25 seniors of each McAllen high school, McHi, Memorial and Rowe, with a $1,000 scholarship, but the Top 25 Scholarship program has since been restructured the Chamber’s Education Initiatives Program where the Chamber will focus on helping prepare students to compete in the 21st Century with a wide range of initiatives such as workforce readiness, internships, mentoring opportunities and additional training in education, and some scholarships,” she said. Since the Chamber’s inception of the scholarship program that Boggus initiated years ago, and now with its education initiative program, the Chamber has raised and awarded over $925,000 for McAllen students.
Wine enthusiasts will again ascend upon beautiful Quinta Mazatlan this year to enjoy the Santa Fe Wine Classic on Friday, October 16 from 6:30 p.m. – 10:30 p.m. The Classic features hundreds of wines from around the world and delicious food from some of the best local restaurants in McAllen such as The Republic of the Rio Grande, Kumori, House.Wine & Bistro, SALT – New American Table, and of course, the Santa Fe Steakhouse. The Classic will also include live music, as well as a silent auction.
“The Classic has become one of the most exciting events in the Valley with sold out events every year. Each year we sell out in advance and we have people anxiously trying to find tickets,” said Garcia. “The event sells out a month in advance, and we credit the event’s popularity to the reputation the Santa Fe Steakhouse has made for itself. The Chamber couldn’t be more honored to be part of the Classic and to be able to work with Santa Fe Steakhouse owner, Sony Rego, and her incredibly talented chefs,” she added.
Tickets are now on sale and Garcia encourages anyone planning to attend the event to get their tickets soon. Individual tickets, table reservations and sponsorships are available and can be purchased at the McAllen Chamber of Commerce, 1200 Ash Ave.; Santa Fe Steakhouse, 1918 S. 10th Street; House. Wine & Bistro, 1117 W. Business 83; Salt – New American Table, 210 N. Main St.; or Holiday Wine on Tamarack and 10th.
