EDINBURG, Texas –  In honor of Black History Month, the City of Edinburg will host an Author Reception on February 13, 2025, at 6 p.m.  at the Edinburg Arts, Culture, and Events Center (315 W. McIntyre St.). This special event will showcase the work of local authors, celebrate the impact of storytelling, and highlight the importance of literature in shaping history and community.

The reception will feature authors Sabrina Walker Hernandez, Angela Rosko, Jane Nk Nwanne, and Theresa Gatling, presenting a diverse selection of books, including SuccessOnomicsGrammy Misses GracieDevil Don’t Birth Beautiful Babies, and Parenting with Uncommon Courage. With a total of ten compelling titles, attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy book readings, purchase books, meet the authors, receive autographs, and engage in meaningful discussions with fellow literature enthusiasts.

A highlight of the evening will be a special donation presentation to the City of Edinburg Juneteenth Committee, reinforcing the city’s commitment to honoring and uplifting Black heritage and culture.

“The City of Edinburg is proud to bring the community together through literature and storytelling,” said Letty Leija, Director of Library & Cultural Arts. “This event is more than a celebration of Black History Month—it is a celebration of voices, experiences, and ideas that inspire and empower.”

Guests will also have the opportunity to network with authors, educators, and community members while enjoying refreshments.
