McAllen, TX – Boys & Girls Club of McAllen (BGCM) is excited to announce the appointment of CEO, Dalinda Gonzalez-Alcantar to the national Boys & Girls Club Government Relations Advisory Committee. Less than 1% of Boys & Girls Club CEOs get appointed to serve in this advisory committee that focuses on solutions and policies that will have the most significant impact on the youth of this country.
Gonzalez-Alcantar attended her first advisory committee meeting on March 2nd in Washington, D.C., where she met with legislators to advocate on behalf of America’s youth.
“I am extremely honored to have this opportunity to represent Texas, and participate in the BGCA Government Relations Advisory Committee that will focus on giving the youth of this region and state a voice,” remarked Gonzalez-Alcantar. “It is critical to provide my experience and perspective to ensure we put our kids first and ensure high-quality out-of-school time experiences.”
The Government Relations Advisory Committee focuses on solutions and policies that have an impact on ensuring every kid feels physically and emotionally safe, equipping youth to make positive health and wellness decisions, ensuring every child who is part of a Boys & Girls Club graduate high school on time, and incorporating equity and inclusion for all young people in everything the Boys & Girls Club does. Gonzalez-Alcantar will be traveling to Washington, D.C. periodically, to meet with the advisory committee to build strategies and meet with members of Congress for support.
