PHARR, TX – The Beaumont Foundation has awarded a grant for $50,000 to provide food relief via Operation Kid Pack and Mobile Produce Program. Operation Kid Pack (OKP) provides nutritious food during the weekend and holiday breaks for low income up to 750 students across the Valley.  The Mobile Produce Program is currently distributing fresh produce to food deserts across the Valley.

The Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley has slowly become the largest non-religious charity in South Texas based on clients and magnitude of food relief distributed.  Up to 64,000 clients are fed any given week through the help of 250 Partner Agencies across Hidalgo, Cameron, and Willacy counties.

“The Beaumont Foundation is a long-time supporter of the Food Bank RGV and anti-hunger programs across Texas,” Ron Meijerink, CEO of the Food Bank RGV, said.  “We thank them for their help in feeding thousands of families in the Rio Grande Valley.”
