Bank’s annual holiday tradition continues
Volunteers delivered toys, vouchers for savings accounts to De Escandon Elementary School students
The BBVA Compass Foundation brought its fifth annual Project Blue Elf initiative to the Edinburg area. Project Blue Elf is the bank’s signature holiday initiative that provides toys to children in low- to moderate-income areas. This year, the program reached more than 5,500 students in 30 markets across the bank’s footprint, including 261 students at De Escandon Elementary School.
After a reading of “The Gingerbread Man Story,” members of the bank’s executive team and employee volunteers handed out $25 vouchers for new BBVA Compass Young Savers accounts, and surprised the students with toys, delivering one to each child. The project helps the bank deliver on its mission and brand promise of creating opportunities in communities across its footprint. The project, celebrating its fifth year, has reached more than 20,000 students at 112 schools, with more than 2,000 bank volunteers taking part in the campaign.
