The signing of the memorandum was a preliminary step for all parties to mutually agree in working together to provide needed documentation or plans for the issuance of permits and/or approval documents, seek funding for planning and construction on both sides of the border, and to showcase full commitment on the completion of this project.

Alfredo Aldape, Omar Escalon, Carina Garcia, Caleb Garza, Carlos Lara, Adrian Nacianceno, Alfredo Martinez, Isela Munoz and Raymundo Salinas will represent TSTC’s Harlingen campus.

While success in establishing the college didn’t come easy, early challenges still offered a glimpse into what was to become a long and successful journey on the board, Gurwitz said. 

UTRGV, which is a certified Bee Campus USA university, hosted Pollinator Day at The Pollinator Cantina on the Brownsville Campus. 

“It was a collective effort in raising this money for our students,” said Garza. “Dreams are coming true for our students and their families. Lives are being changed for the better. Thank you to everyone who has supported our mission and helped us create these scholarships.”

WSL agents apprehended Juan Perez-Hernandez, a Mexican national, on April 24.  Perez-Hernandez was convicted in 2014 for the sexual assault of a child.  He has a prior conviction for assault causing bodily injury to a family member in 2011. 

Rio Grande Valley Sector Border Patrol (RGV) agents and local law enforcement partners encountered three large groups and disrupted five human smuggling events resulting in 543 apprehensions.
