Gov. of Tamaulipas Francisco J. Garcia Cabeza de Vaca launched a battle against organized crime and corrupt government officials. He took over the state on October 1, 2016, and found that is in deplorable conditions. There is no municipal police in place, the state police, whatever left of the force is in great need of total restoration.
