The City of McAllen Purchasing Department has once again – for the fourth time in a row! – earned the Annual Achievement of Excellence in Procurement Award. The Achievement of Excellence in Procurement recognizes organizational excellence in public and non-profit procurement. The City of McAllen Purchasing Department received this award back in 2018, 2019 and in 2020.

In today’s MMWR, a study of COVID-19 infections in Kentucky among people who were previously infected with SAR-CoV-2 shows that unvaccinated individuals are more than twice as likely to be reinfected with COVID-19 than those who were fully vaccinated after initially contracting the virus.

The Hidalgo County Water Improvement District No. 3 ("District") continues to prove it is an unnecessary layer of government that has outgrown its purpose. To the detriment of McAllen residents, the District will increase rates for the water it provides the McAllen Public Utility ("Utility "), effective September 1, 2021.
