ALAMO – Author and screenwriter Michael Anthony Steele dedicated his latest book titled “Tom Swift Inventors’ Academy” to a Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD (PSJA ISD) Nurse who saved his life in 2018.
Santos Livas Elementary Registered Nurse Jessica Ramos and her Livas Elem. Emergency Response Team saved the author’s life after resuscitating him twice from a heart attack he had on campus after a presentation to students.
Steele dedicated a character in his new book to the Nurse as a token of appreciation for her heroic act.
“This is a small tribute for the impact she had in my life,” said Steele. “I’m very grateful for what she did.”
For Nurse Ramos, the mention of the incident in the book and tribute meant a lot to her and her family.
“Mr. Steele creates literature for children that helps convey and teach very important messages, and to be mentioned in one of his books is an absolute honor,” said Nurse Ramos. “I am fortunate to have been placed in a position to meet him and his wonderful family, and thankful that when I was needed, I was able to help.”
In addition to assisting at their campuses, this year PSJA ISD Nurses have been going above their normal duties to assist during the COVID-19 pandemic, including helping with the COVID-19 Hotline and administering vaccines.
