Texas Border Business
The Pharr Community Theater at 213 W Newcombe Ave, Pharr, TX will hold open auditions (cold reading from the script on a first come first served bases) on Monday, June 4 and Tuesday, June 5, 2018, from 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm for 20 roles in the play, TALES OF THE HIDALGO PUMPHOUSE, written by Lucio G. Rivera and Pedro Garcia. The bilingual play predominately in English will be directed by Jaime Seres Magaña.
Needed are 5 men and 5 women ranging in ages 18 to 65 and 5 boys and 5 girls ranging in ages 11 to 14. Everyone is welcome to try out. The play will run from August 16 through September 9, 2018, for nearly 10 shows at the Pharr Community Theater and at other nearby RGV locations TBA.
Rehearsals commence June 11 until August 15 and will be held at the theater between 6:30 pm and 9:30 pm Monday through Fridays with some time off in between. No appointment necessary to audition!

Tales of the Hidalgo Pumphouse tells the story of Luisito & Janie and their pals who come of age in Hidalgo, Texas in the 1970′s.
Luisito and his buddies are searching for the hidden treasure while the girls are writing a history report about the old Pumphouse and practicing the ancient dance in its honor. The story is also about the parents and ancestors who worked and lived around the Pumphouse since it was built. The tale is laced with history and folktales including the creepy and sometimes funny characters such as La Llorona/The Weeping Woman, La Lechuza/The White Owl, and El Hombre sin Cabeza/The Headless Man.
Together the youth and adults, with the help from a magical Pirate named Hidalgo, save the Old Pumphouse from destruction as it becomes a historical museum. It still stands today in Hidalgo, TX.
