EDINBURG – Providing Hidalgo County residents with the ability to see their County Government in Action is a top priority. As of May 8, residents will be able to tune in to their local school district TV station – Channel 17 – to watch Commissioners Court meetings on their televisions.
Since terminating the contract to broadcast Commissioners Court meetings on KMBH-TV in February 2014, the county has been looking for low cost alternative options to have the meetings televised for residents. The Public Affairs Division has been working to create partnerships with neighboring cities and school districts to broadcast our meetings.
We are proud to announce that Hidalgo County has signed interlocal agreements with PSJA ISD, Weslaco ISD, Mission CISD and La Joya ISD for the broadcast of our Commissioners Court meetings on their stations. Currently, the court meets every other week, therefore residents will be able to watch the meetings the same week court is held.
We want extend our appreciation to PSJA ISD, Weslaco ISD, Mission CISD and La Joya ISD for their commitment to helping the citizens of Hidalgo County to see their County Government in Action.
