RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Department of Intercollegiate Athletics learned on Thursday that Arthur Rogers, who played three seasons with the Vaqueros men’s soccer team, has signed a professional contract with the Hartford Athletic of the United Soccer League (USL).
“I have been waiting for this moment my whole life,” Rogers said. “So much support from family and friends has allowed me to get here. Achieving this makes the decision of leaving home in 2016 all worthwhile. I am beyond excited for the season to get underway in Hartford.”
Rogers wrapped up his senior year as one of the captains for the Vaqueros. Rogers finished the season second on the team with five assists and fourth on the team with five points. His five assists were the fourth most in the Western Athletic Conference this past season.
Rogers earned All-WAC Second Team honors this past season after earning All-WAC Honorable Mention honors as a junior. Rogers also earned United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-West Region Second Team honors this season.
Hartford Athletic will have its home opener on Saturday, March 21, at 3 p.m. against Charleston Battery at Dillon Stadium.
