McALLEN, Texas – Art Pathways is a citywide youth art contest celebrating books, imagination, and creative expression among children and teens who have a McAllen Public Library (MPL) borrower’s card. Participants are invited to read a book, paint their favorite scene, and incorporate Marty the Library Cat, McAllen Public Library’s official mascot, into their artwork to bring their chosen story to life.

Help support literacy and visual arts as they kickoff the 2026 Art Pathways Youth Contest. Marty the Library Cat will be on hand inviting all participants to explore storytelling, creativity, and self-expression while reinforcing reading comprehension.

Winning artwork will be displayed in the library and on the library’s social media channels, amplifying young artists’ voices and inspiring others to participate.
