Weslaco, Texas – RGV LEAD, the Rio Grande Valley Partnership Regional Chamber of Commerce, Texas Technical College Harlingen, and the University of Texas-Rio Grande Valley are pleased to announce the celebration of GenTX Decision Day in the Rio Grande Valley, as follows:
DATE AND TIME: Friday, April 24, 2015 ● 10 a.m. – 11 a.m.
LOCATION: Board Room, Rio Grande Valley Partnership Regional Chamber of Commerce
322 South Missouri, Weslaco
GenTX Decision Day will be celebrated on May 1 and thereafter in events hosted by school districts, colleges, and universities. Join Julian Alvarez, President/CEO, Rio Grande Valley Partnership and Vice President, RGV LEAD, UTRGV, TSTC representatives; and other community leaders at the announcement ceremony to learn more.
The event will feature remarks by high school students who have been named RGV LEAD Student Ambassadors as well as college students who are Collegiate G-Force representatives from Texas State Technical College Harlingen and the University of Texas-Pan American.
The announcement ceremony will provide information about coming events and the way business and community leaders can participate in GenTX Decision Day events, which will begin on May 1 and continue thereafter. Participants will be supporting the students of Generation Texas (GenTX), who will become the next leaders of Texas and the Rio Grande Valley.
As students take their next steps toward the future, communities across Texas are coming together to applaud their successes and support them as they go on to college and begin career training. This statewide endeavor is supported by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, community leaders throughout Texas, and the local leaders named above.
