Ambassador of El Salvador to the U.S. Milena Mayorga Visits McAllen

This past Thursday, June 24th Ambassador of El Salvador to the U.S. Milena Mayorga, visited McAllen, Texas for a series of meetings with McAllen leaders.  Ambassador Mayorga was joined by Minister Counselor Mardoqueo Tochez, and Consul of el Salvador in McAllen, Juan Salamanca. They had a meeting with McAllen EDC President Keith Patridge, McAllen Chamber of Commerce Vice President, Luis Eduardo Cantu and Ralph Garcia, Vice President for MEDC to go over potential opportunities of collaboration towards binational trade, manufacturing exchanges/development, as well as educational initiatives.

The ultimate goal is to create opportunities that generate job opportunities in El Salvador and create business opportunities for both parties. As part of the follow up activities, a trip to El Salvador will take place hosted by Ambassador Mayorga in the near future.

“It is easy to understand that Ambassador Mayorga has a clear vision in line with President of El Salvador Nayib Bukele’s innovative government to raise EL Salvador to the next level.” Said Luis Cantu,” I recognize Ambassador Mayorga’s leadership and is highly motivating seeing the interesting opportunities resulting from this positive change in its country’s perspective.” Cantu concluded.

Ambassador Milena Mayorga met later that day with new Mayor of McAllen, Javier Villalobos, where both leaders expressed their support to creating avenues to foster relations between El Salvador and McAllen. One of the topics discussed was the opportunity to sign a sister city agreement with one of El Salvador’s leading cities with input from both parties to create a solid action plan. More among this particular subject among other initiatives will be covered in following meetings between Mayor Villalobos and Ambassador Mayorga.
