Texas Border Business –
The Hispanic Women’s Network of Texas – RGV Chapter will be hosting their February meeting on April 19th at Russo’s in McAllen at 11:30am to 1:00pm. Lunch is $18. The HWNT is a state organization that empowers women thru education on various topics that are pertinent to a woman’s growth as well as introducing them to key people. Every month there is a key speaker with this month being Alka Vaswani, President of Infinite Love, a non-profit organization founded by four women whose mission is to support the underprivileged and those with disabilities of chronic illnesses by offering emotional, spiritual, and resource-based support of uplift, inspire, and improve overall quality of life. Lunch is $18 for members and $25 for non-members.
In its infancy, Infinite Love has been serving the community in numerous ways. To fulfill its mission of serving the underprivileged, members bring fresh food and warm company to the homeless at a local park every Tuesday evening. The organization supplements this outreach by working toward providing housing for individuals in dire need of shelter while they work on getting their lives back in order. The volunteers are currently working with local organizations to learn how to move further on this cause. Infinite love also spends time visiting cancer patients and their families to provide an outlet and emotional support during their struggle. The volunteers’ dream for the future is to have a place of lodging and rest for patients and families who come to McAllen for cancer treatment. Knowing that they do not have to worry about lodging expenses or finding a place to stay should help alleviate some of their discomfort and allow them to focus on getting better.
To foster community and spiritual growth in South Texas, Infinite Love holds meditation circles at their center every Wednesday evening. Meditation is about bringing stillness into your life through a regular meditation practice. Motivated by love to share the powerful tools of meditation with others, we hope to help people to purse inner growth , inner peace, and inner strength along life journeys, the practice of which will strengthen and better our community and our world .
Attendees share food provided by the volunteers, connect to each other in friendship, and meditate together to pursue balance and inner peace in a sometimes-harsh world. Infinite Love will continue to focus on ways to lift consciousness and spread love. Volunteers are dedicated to further building this organization by connecting with members of the South Texas community who share a passion to serve and grow.
