SARITA, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Javier Vega Jr., Checkpoint in Sarita, Texas, stopped a human smuggling attempt.
Yesterday morning, agents working at the checkpoint referred a box truck for secondary inspection. During a subsequent search of the cargo area, agents discovered 11 illegal aliens hidden amongst the cargo.
The case remain under investigation and the Border Patrol processed all subjects accordingly.
The Rio Grande Valley Sector currently has multiple campaigns focused on rescues and danger awareness, such as “Operation Big Rig” and “No Se Arriesgue” to combat smuggling and ultimately save lives. Call 911 to report suspicious activity; “They’re humans, not cargo!”
