On Tuesday, March 21, 2023, Governor Greg Abbott appointed Texas Regional Bank’s Executive Vice President Alex Meade to serve on the Texas Transportation Commission which governs the Texas Department of Transportation, commonly known as TXDOT. Created in 1916, TXDOT is responsible for construction and maintenance of the state’s immense state highway system and the support of the state’s aviation, rail, and public transportation systems.
