The City of McAllen has been made aware of a scam email that went out last night regarding payment of a “City Compensation Fee” for current applications to the City of McAllen, for such projects as subdivisions, variances, site plans, etc.

The City of McAllen does not have a City Compensation Fee, the City of McAllen Planning & Zoning Department does not operate on Sunday evenings and invoices are not sent by email.  The email asks for payment with an attached invoice, before being able to proceed with the requestor’s application.

The email appears to have come from a “@usa.com” inbox. The City of McAllen only uses the @mcallen.net inbox.
