AHCV’s CEO, Carlos Zaffirini, Named UT Law Outstanding Young Alumnus

AUSTIN – The University of Texas at Austin, School of Law has named Adelanto HealthCare Venture’s (AHCV) CEO, Carlos Zaffirini, as its Outstanding Young Alumnus. In addition to his accomplishments in the business and legal professions, Mr. Zaffirini is being honored for his philanthropic work with the Texas Access to Justice Foundation, South Texas Food Bank, Rio Grande International Study Center, Junior Achievement, and a variety of programs that enhance the quality of life of low-income Texans and their access to education, health, justice, and the arts.

Mr. Zaffirini has also partnered with the UT Law School Foundation to establish the “Access to Justice Initiative,” which pays for Texas bar exam review courses and exam fees for low-income law students committed to increasing access to justice for low-income Texans. Additionally, he has also endowed three University of Texas scholarships, a student loan repayment grant program for teachers and healthcare workers, good works grants for civic organizations, and a patient suite at Dell Seton Medical Center.

The awards were announced by Alumni Association President Milam F. Newby who said, “The Alumni Awards honor some of our most highly accomplished alumni. We are delighted to recognize them and their outstanding contributions to our Law School and their professional and civic communities.”

“As the CEO of AHCV, Carlos has helped some of the most prestigious healthcare systems in the country access more than $6 billion in additional reimbursement,” said AHCV General Counsel and UT LAW Alumna ’06, Jamie Whitney. “But more importantly, he has spearheaded multiple charitable ventures and endowments to give back to the community and provide low-income Texans with scholarships and opportunities to create a better life for themselves and their families. In short, Carlos’ drive to succeed and his passion for philanthropy make him the perfect choice for the University of Texas’ School of Law Outstanding Young Alumnus award.”
