RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) women’s basketball team learned on Monday that graduate student forward Jordan Agustus is the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Women’s Basketball Player of the Week.
Agustus also earned the honor from College Sports Madness.
Agustus recorded back-to-back double-doubles to help UTRGV to a pair of victories this past week. In the first double-double of her career, Agustus scored 23 points and grabbed 10 rebounds with three assists and three blocks in the win over Texas A&M-Kingsville.
Agustus followed up with her second double-double with a career-high 27 points, 13 rebounds, four assists, and four blocks in the win over UTSA on Saturday.
On the season, Agustus is averaging 14.1 points per game and 7.3 rebounds per game and a WAC leading 2.6 blocks per game.
UTRGV is back in action on Saturday at 2 p.m. against Texas A&M International. Fans donate a useable coat to receive a free general admission. All donations benefit Tim’s Coats, a non-profit organization that, in conjunction with the Southwest Dry Cleaners Association, distributes coats to families in need throughout the Rio Grande Valley.
