EDINBURG, Texas – Rio Grande Valley Sector Border Patrol agents were led on two vehicle pursuits, one, resulted in the rescue of two migrants from the trunk of a car.
On the evening of Sept. 13, Kingsville Border Patrol Station agents attempted to conduct a vehicle stop on a white Lincoln Town Car after it was observed making a U-turn on U.S. Highway 77 near Sarita. The vehicle failed to yield and drove through a private property fence. Several subjects fled into the brush when the vehicle stopped abruptly. Agents encountered two migrants from Mexico in the locked trunk. They were unharmed and did not require additional medical assistance.
Also on Sept. 13, Rio Grande City Border Patrol Station received a concerned citizen call regarding possible migrant smuggling near Refugio. Agents responded and encountered a vehicle matching the provided description. A vehicle stop was initiated on the brown Ford Explorer, but the driver failed to yield leading the agents on a short vehicle pursuit which ended, where it started. Several subjects were observed fleeing from the vehicle. Agents seized the vehicle and apprehended one migrant nearby.
All subjects are being processed accordingly.
