EDCOUCH – Students and teachers from three school districts will return to Delta Lake Park in Monte Alto on Monday, March 4, to finish a beautification project begun as a Hidalgo County Precinct 1 MLK Day of Service event at Delta Lake Park in Monte Alto.
On Martin Luther King Day in January about 50 students, teachers and community members joined Precinct 1 Commissioner David L. Fuentes in painting picnic tables at the park, which is located on North FM 88, north of Charles Green Road in Monte Alto.
“It was such a success that our office was recently approached by students and teachers about coming out to finish painting the tables,” said Fuentes.
Students and teachers from Monte Alto ISD, Edcouch-Elsa ISD and La Villa ISD will volunteer at the park from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The goal at Delta Lake Park is to paint 140 picnic tables in preparation of the installation of new barbecue pits that will be installed at a later date.
