Cobián said that the flights would be operated on an ATR42-600 plane, with capacity for 48 passengers: “this route will have a promotional fare of 168 dollars in a single trip, from McAllen to Mexico, taxes included, to fly until December 21,” he said.

It is important to note that so far in 2017, Aeromar has mobilized 1,500 passengers monthly on this route, where 70% are leisure travelers and 30% are business travelers.

Liz Suarez, the McAllen Aviation Director, said, “We’re approaching the fifth anniversary of our relationship with Aeromar.”

Suarez mentioned that on February 2018 Aeromar and McAllen would be celebrating five years of the Mexico City-McAllen route.

According to her, this route is growing and that the community should know that the flight is accessible and beneficial for the region.

Cobián said that Aeromar celebrated its 30th anniversary in November flying with no interruption and that they are looking forward to the celebration of five years doing business with McAllen.

He was excited to announce that this December Aeromar is flying every day to Mexico City, increasing two flights starting December 16th.

Cobián also announced a new product on Aeromar called “Executive Pass,” it consists of buying tickets with anticipation obtaining a discount on the price. “We have 20, 50 and 100 pass packets, where if you buy a 20-basic coupon executive pass, you obtain a special price of $131 one way.  “We only need for you to book 24 hours before the flight, you get a better price.”

Suarez said that Aeromar has on average 14,000 passengers per year that go out from Mexico City to McAllen. “For us, this flight is vital because it keeps raising the importance of Mexico to the USA but specifically for our Rio Grande Valley area.”

The direct flight from McAllen to Mexico and vice versa continues to grow. “We’ve identified seasons like in summer, November, December, Holy Week/Spring Break where there’s a significant increase of passengers, and we reinforce the frequency, or we increase the capacity, Cobián said.

He also announced, that their fleet is renovated continuously.  “We’re operating with an ATR-42-600 new generation with a capacity for 48 passengers.” He also said that dates with high demand they bring the ATR-72 with a capacity for 72 passengers.

Cobián thanked the authorities of the City of McAllen and the McAllen International Airport for their support in the operation of the route since its inauguration in 2013, which “allowed us to transport more than 14,000 passengers in 2016,” Cobián said.
