Aeromar Celebrates Inaugural Nonstop Flight Service to Monterrey, Mexico

McAllen, TX – Today, the McAllen International Airport (MFE) celebrated Aeromar’s inaugural international nonstop flights to and from Monterrey International Airport (MTY). The day launched with an official ribbon cutting by the McAllen Chamber of Commerce including city dignitaries, commemorative soccer jerseys, soccer spirit bands, and the Mayor of McAllen, Jim Darling, participating in the tradition of “la patada de la suerte.”

The new nonstop route is the Rio Grande Valley’s very first to Monterrey, a vibrant metropolitan area that offers visitors a vast array of cultural experiences and represents a key business connection for industrial and manufacturing clusters in North America. “The relationship between our communities is vital and will only flourish with our new nonstop flight,” said McAllen Mayor James E. Darling. “Our airport is leading the region in creating these connections. We are grateful for our partnership with Aeromar and we are excited about future opportunities to connect with Mexico and beyond.”

The first flight from McAllen International Airport to Monterrey departed at 1:15 p.m. with applause and special gifts for all travelers. Aeromar, Mexico’s foremost regional airline, was on site to commemorate the sendoff. “Even in thesechallenging times, we remain strongly committed to enhancing the connectivity between Mexico and McAllen, withincreased departures and two routes now in place starting today. We’re excited to see what the future holds for McAllen” added Fabricio Cojuc, Aeromar Executive Director, Network Strategy and Alliances.

The inaugural flight from Monterrey arrived at 4:10 pm to a water cannon salute from McAllen’s own Aircraft Rescue & Fire Fighting. The full flight of seventy-two passengers were treated to a McAllen Warm Welcome Event featuring everything great about McAllen. This included MFE commemorative welcome bags, greetings from various hospitality partners, and McAllen’s official welcome refreshment, Border Buttermilk.

The flights will operate year‐round, initially on Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays, featuring state of the art ATR 72‐600 equipment seating 72 passengers. They will depart McAllen at 13:15 and arrive in Monterrey at 14:15. Return flights will depart Monterrey at 15:10 and arrive in McAllen at 16:10.
