Monte Cristo Road Improvements

Another partnership focuses on FM 1925 (Monte Cristo Road), from McColl Road to 1,500 feet west of 10th Street (Trooper Moises Sanchez Blvd.). Identified by the Rio Grande Valley Metropolitan Planning Organization as a high-priority corridor, the project will expand the roadway into a four-lane divided urban facility. With engineering now 100% complete, construction is set to begin in Spring 2026.

Schunior Road Improvements

A third ILA will deliver upgrades to Schunior Road from N. Jackson Road to Hoehn Drive, and Hoehn Drive from Schunior Road to SH 107 (W. University Dr.). The project will convert the current two-lane rural roadway into a modern four-lane divided urban section. Under the agreement, the City will contribute 60% and the County 40% toward all project phases. Construction is scheduled to be complete by 2029.
