Before obtaining the vehicle registration renewal, it is essential to pass a Texas Vehicle Inspection at a location approved by the Texas Department of Public Safety. To ensure a smooth renewal process, customers must present the following: Renewal Notice, Proof of Insurance, Valid Identification and Acceptable Form of Payment which includes cash and checks. Checks should be made payable to either the Hidalgo County or Cameron County Tax Assessor Collector.
