Acting with Maria Alvarado at Pharr Community Theater

The Pharr Community Theater Co. will start a new six week/12 hour acting workshop for children ages 9 to 13, with Maria Alvarado, from February 20, 2019, through April 6. 2019. Class will be held on Wednesdays from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and on Saturdays from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the theater located at 213 W Newcombe Ave. Pharr, TX.

Children will learn about Improvisation, Voice & Diction, Puppetry, Make-up, Monologues & Duets. The cost per child is $180 and class size is limited to 10 students. A part of the proceeds is to support Pharr Community Theater programming. Classes for ages 5-8 and 14 to 17 are in development and you may inquire about those. Individual, Duet or Group acting classes for Adults are also available for anyone ages 18 and above by appointment only for convenient class times.

Maria Alvarado graduated from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley with a BA in Theatre Performance. Maria is an actor, director, and an experienced dancer. She has performed and directed at international theatre festivals including the New Orleans Fringe Festival and The New York City Fringe. She has over three years of experience coaching young actors. Currently residing in Edinburg, TX she’s pursuing a masters degree in Creative Writing and works with the Latino Theatre Initiatives.
