The University of Texas-Pan American recently celebrated the accomplishments of 41 faculty or staff members who published a book, book chapters or other scholarly works this academic year. The event, titled “Celebrating Inspiration,” also recognized the achievements of a long list of successful faculty and staff grant writers who brought in more than $23 million in major research grants for the university in the 2014-15 academic year.

Sponsored by Offices of the President and the Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs, the fourth annual UTPA Authors Recognition Reception was held in the UTPA Library during National Library Week, April 12-18. Dr. Havidán Rodríguez, UTPA president ad interim, praised the academic expertise they share with students and their committed search for new knowledge.

“The university will continue to grow, will continue to expand, will continue to have a significant impact in the Rio Grande Valley, throughout the state of Texas and across the nation and beyond, and most of that will be because of the excellent faculty and staff we have here at the University of Texas Pan American and that we will continue to have at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley,” Rodríguez said.
