McALLEN, Texas – The University of Texas-Rio Grande Valley and Quinta Mazatlan are proud to present A String Quartet Concert in the Park on Thursday, February 17th, at six in the evening.   The concert features a string quartet with violinists Geoffrey Wong and Lindsey Gamble, violist Young Sin Choi, and cellist Patrick Hopkins. The quartet will be performing notable pieces such as String Quartet No. 15 in D Minor, K. 421, by W.A. Mozart, String Quartet No. 12 in F Major, Op. 96, and “The American,” by Antonin Dvorak.

The February performance is one of five Music in the Park concerts scheduled through May at Quinta Mazatlan.

The series is free to the public and made possible by the generous support of the Rea Charitable Trust, working to promote the arts and education.  Grab your kids or partner (for a date night) and experience the beauty of live music outdoors including classical, mariachi, jazz, and country!  The concert series features both local and visiting musicians from around the state.

Come early to Quinta Mazatlan and enjoy the half mile of nature trails through the woods.  Music is all around us, especially in nature. From babbling brooks to chirping birds, there is a symphony of sounds around us. Through music we can create deep connections with others, ourselves, and our natural world. “If you look deep enough you will see music; the heart of nature being everywhere music” – Thomas Carlyle
