On May 26, 2023, the City of Mission and the broader community of Texas lost a great leader and a compassionate man, former Mayor Norberto “Beto” Salinas. A moving proclamation read at the Hidalgo County Commissioners court on August 8, 2023, served to commemorate and celebrate his life and legacy. This article will delve into Mayor Salinas’ inspiring life, honoring his dedication, vision, and immense contributions to the public service and community.

Mayor Salinas’ career in public service was remarkable, spanning several decades and marked by significant roles at both the local and state levels. His service as a County Commissioner for Precinct three, Mayor of Mission, and trustee of the South Texas Independent School District allowed him to impact the community profoundly.
