Texas Border Business
If you are a fan of ’80s pop band A Flock of Seagulls, then you probably remember the first time you saw one of the group’s videos on MTV; the band’s music was catchy and fun, but it was difficult to take your eyes off lead singer Mike Score’s hairdo, an outrageous design meant to emulate the wings of a seagull. Score is now 56-years-old and the hair is long gone, but the fun of the music remains, as fans who attend the Lost ’80s Live show 8pm, Sunday, August 25, 2019 at State Farm Arena.
The Lost ’80s Live concert will in all present twelve bands, but this night is for the oldies, so fans can expect to hear. The other bands appearing are mostly all like-minded synth poppers and include:
Bow Wow Wow – At this point in time everybody knows this band’s one big hit, “I Want Candy.” When the song was originally released, though, it barely troubled the charts, and only slowly became a favorite over the course of decades. The Annabella Lwin-fronted group is likely also to play lesser-known tunes like “Do You Want to Hold Me” and “Louis Quatorze.”
Wang Chung – Wang Chung are an English new wave band formed in London in 1980 by Nick Feldman, Jack Hues and Darren Costin. The name Wang Chung means “yellow bell” in Chinese, and is the first note in the Chinese classical music scale. The band found their greatest success in the US, with five Top 40 hits there, all charting between 1983 and 1987, including “Dance Hall Days”, “Everybody Have Fun Tonight” and “Let’s Go!”.
BOYS DON’T CRY – Boys Don’t Cry are a British pop/rock band known for the hit single “I Wanna Be a Cowboy”, which peaked at No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1986 and charted around the world. They released an EP, two albums and several singles.
