A FARC Guerrilla Member and Five Salvadoran Gang Members Arrested

EDINBURG, Texas â€“ Rio Grande Valley Sector Border Patrol (RGV) agents arrested a guerrilla member of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), four Mara-Salvatrucha (MS-13), and an 18th Street gang member.

On Dec. 7, McAllen Border Patrol Station (MCS) agents encountered a group of 42 migrants near Hidalgo. Record checks on a 38-year-old Colombian national revealed he was a guerrilla member of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC). Hours later, MCS agents apprehended an MS-13 Salvadoran national within a group of 49 migrants consisting mainly of family members.

On Dec. 6, MCS agents conducting processing duties discovered two migrants were MS-13 gang members and another was an 18th Street gang member, all are nationals of El Salvador. One of the MS-13 gang members had previously been sentenced to 12 months’ probation for violating his domestic violence order in Union County, North Carolina. Record checks on the 18th Street gang member revealed he had been previously charged in his home country with homicide and for being a gang member.

On Dec. 5, MCS apprehended a 25-year-old Salvadoran national whose record checks revealed he was a MS-13 gang member previously convicted and sentenced to six months’ probation for possession with intent to promote child pornography in 2013. Four years later, he was sentenced to 20 days incarceration for possession of marijuana. Both arrests were in Conroe, Texas.

All subjects were processed accordingly.
