Dallas, Texas – (August 5, 2024) – Local advertising and communications professional A.B. Barrera was unanimously elected as District Governor for the American Advertising Federation District 10. His induction was held this past Spring in Dallas at the organization’s District 10 Advent10n (district-wide advertising and marketing conference). Barrera officially took the helm in July of this year.
District 10 encompasses the states of Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Texas. As District Governor, Barrera will oversee nineteen American Advertising Federation Chapter Clubs in cities throughout these four states. This marks only the second time a Hispanic has been elected to a Governor position since the district’s formation in 1909 and the first time a Mexican American and Laredoan has served in this capacity.
Barrera was also honored with the prestigious Silver Medal Award. A lifetime achievement honor, the Silver Medal Award recognizes individuals who have made outstanding contributions to advertising and have been active in furthering the industry’s standards, creative excellence, and responsibility in areas of social concern.
“I’m looking forward to serving District 10 and all of our clubs and members, as well as growing the district and keeping our commitment to being the Unifying Voice for Advertising”, said Barrera.
“I love what I do, and I am proud to be able to share my knowledge and leadership skills with such a dynamic national organization”, he continued.
Headquartered in Washington, DC, the American Advertising Federation (AAF) is the “Unifying Voice for Advertising.” The AAF has more than 150 local clubs across the U.S., representing nearly 50,000 advertising professionals, connecting, and leading the industry. They support more than 4,000 college chapter members across 140+ college chapters. They have more than 50 corporate members who are loyal and supportive of their ongoing efforts.
A.B. Barrera is one of Laredo’s most respected business and civic leaders. His marketing and business acumen spans nearly three decades and the entire state of Texas.
