Houston, Texas – Local advertising and communications professional A.B. Barrera was unanimously elected to serve as 2nd Lt. Governor and begin his District Governor Track for the American Advertising Federation District 10. The election was held recently in Houston at the organization’s District 10 Advention (district-wide advertising and marketing conference). 

District 10 encompasses the states of Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Texas. As 2ndLt. Governor, Barrera will help oversee nineteen American Advertising Federation Chapter Clubs in cities throughout these four states.  This marks only the second time that a Hispanic has been elected to a Governor position since the district’s formation in 1909, and the first time a Laredoan has served in this capacity.

Barrera was also honored with a special Governor’s “Community” Award for his commitment to fostering community and collaboration amongst American Advertising Federation Clubs throughout the District.

He is co-CEO of PMDG Marketing Communications, a full-service advertising agency and co-owner of AlphaGraphics Laredo, a full-service print center.

Barrera is a nationally recognized and award-winning marketing and public relations professional.  His list of awards and accolades are what most marketing and public relations professionals strive much of their career to earn:  the highly coveted MAXI Award, considered to be the Oscars® of retail and real estate marketing (International Council of Shopping Centers) and several Addy Awards from the American Advertising Federation. His other distinctions include certification by the Emily Post Institute as a Certified Business Etiquette Professional, and Certified Marketing Director (CMD) a designation he earned early on in his marketing career by the International Council of Shopping Centers (now Innovating Commerce Serving Communities).  

Barrera is a member ofesteemed national marketing organizations, including the American Marketing Association and the Public Relations Society of America. His advertising expertise has led him to serve as President of the American Advertising Federation Rio Grande Valley Chapter and most recently he served on the Executive Board of the American Advertising Federation’s District 10 as Chairman for Conferences and Conventions.
