Cornyn Secures Funding Restriction to Pressure Mexico on Water Treaty
U.S. Senator John Cornyn announced in Brownsville that a provision he requested has been included in the Fiscal Year 2026 National Security, Department of State, and Related Programs Appropriations bill that would block U.S. funding from being sent to Mexico until the U.S. Secretary of State certifies that Mexico is delivering the water it owes the United States under the 1944 Water Treaty.
Federal Agencies Withdraw Lending Guidance on Immigration Status
The Department of Justice and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau announced that they have withdrawn a joint statement issued in October 2023 that addressed how lenders may consider an applicant’s immigration or citizenship status when making credit decisions.
