The Hispanic Women’s Network of Texas (HWNT) has long supported Latinas across the state and championed women’s contributions to society, business, and leadership. Among the remarkable honorees of the 2025 HWNT Hispanic Women Making History event is Edna Posada, a true powerhouse in the Rio Grande Valley (RGV) whose entrepreneurial journey and firm commitment to her community have solidified her place as a history-maker.

Born the eldest of five children, Edna learned the values of hard work and responsibility early in life. At just 15 years old, she entered the workforce, driven by a relentless determination to achieve a successful future. She pursued higher education and gained valuable experience in administrative and sales roles with major corporations before taking a leap of faith into entrepreneurship in 1989.

With a bold vision and an unshakable work ethic, she founded Aldani, Inc., named after her beloved children, Alexandria and Daniel. What started as a small Merle Norman cosmetic store in McAllen has flourished into a multi-faceted business empire, including:

• Three Merle Norman Cosmetic Studios (McAllen, Harlingen, and Brownsville)

• Two Spa La Posada locations (McAllen and Harlingen)

• Leona Boutique, a thriving retail fashion store with both a physical and online presence

Her business has grown into a foundation of economic empowerment, providing stability and opportunities for over 17 employees in the Rio Grande Valley.

Through her leadership, she has helped shape policies and initiatives that uplift the community and empower women in business.

During the HWNT Hispanic Women Making History event, Edna gave a heartfelt speech, expressing gratitude to those who paved the way before her. She paid homage to her mother, father, and abuela, who instilled in her strength, perseverance, and resilience—values that have guided her throughout her life.

Reflecting on her 35-year journey, she shared the humble beginnings of her entrepreneurial path, from managing a small store while raising her children to leading a multi-location business. She candidly spoke about the challenges and sacrifices, including late nights, early mornings, and even cereal dinners during tough times.

Her daughter, Alexandria, now her business partner, has been instrumental in expanding their operations, including launching TikTok Live Shopping, a modern twist on retail, propelling their brand into the digital space.

Edna’s success is rooted in her business ventures and her commitment to uplifting other women. She passionately reminded the audience that:

“When we lift each other up, we all rise.”

She urged women to remember that their stories, voices, and contributions matter, emphasizing the importance of mentoring and supporting the next generation of Latina leaders.

Her final message resonated deeply:

“We’re not just making history—we’re shaping the future.”

Edna’s journey from a determined young woman in the Rio Grande Valley to a business mogul and community leaderis a testament to her resilience, passion, and dedication. As she continues to break barriers and inspire future generations, her legacy stands as an example for Latinas everywhere.

HWNT’s recognition of Edna Posada in the 2025 Hispanic Women Making History awards is well deserved. She embodies the spirit of leadership, entrepreneurship, and community service, proving that anything is possible with hard work and determination.
