BROWNSVILLE, TX -The City of Brownsville’s Brownsville Animal Regulation and Care Center (BARCC) has received a $70,000 grant from the Stanton Foundation to purchase a state-of-the-art canine transportation unit. This significant financial support aims to increase canine live release rates and enhancethe overall welfare of dogs by ensuring their safe, reliable, and comfortable transportation to partner organizations and adoption events.
“This generous grant from the Stanton Foundation is a game-changer for us at BARCC,” said Dr. AntonioCaldwell, Deputy Director of Animal Services at the City of Brownsville. “It enables us to provide the bestpossible transportation for the canines in our care, ensuring they reach their destinations safely and comfortably. This, in turn, significantly contributes to our efforts to increase live release rates and improve the overall welfare of the canines in our community. We are profoundly grateful to the Stanton Foundation for their support and trust in our mission.”
This investment by the Stanton Foundation highlights the importance of collaboration and support in the shared mission to enhance the lives of animals in need. The City of Brownsville and BARCC are eager to move forward with this project, furthering their commitment to the welfare of dogs and contributing to amore compassionate community.
The Stanton Foundation, a respected organization dedicated to creating a more humane world for dogsand improving the human/canine bond, provides funding specifically for the purchase of a new Ford Transitor Ram ProMaster. These vehicles are to be equipped with a long wheelbase and medium roof height and include rear HVAC to ensure the dogs’ comfort during transport.
BARCC will oversee the purchase of the vehicle, as well as take responsibility for all necessary maintenance, repair, insurance, and upkeep to ensure the vehicle remains operational. Any remaining funds following the purchase of the van, HVAC system, and wrap installment will be meticulously reportedback to the Stanton Foundation and securely retained in a separate account. These funds will be exclusively reserved for emergency repairs or one-time modifications of the van, excluding recurring costs such as fuel expenses, routine maintenance, or driver wages.
The Brownsville Animal Regulation and Care Center is dedicated to providing shelter, care, and adoption services for animals in the City of Brownsville. The center works tirelessly to promote responsible pet ownership, prevent the spread of animal-borne diseases, and protect the public by seizing public nuisance animals roaming throughout the City.
The Stanton Foundation was established by Frank Stanton, a longtime President of CBS with a deep love for dogs and an understanding of their role in society. The foundation supports areas that were important to Dr. Stanton, including nuclear security, the First Amendment rights and responsibilities of the press, and the welfare of dogs and the enhancement of the human/dog bond.
