| Brownsville, Texas – The Brownsville Independent School District (Brownsville ISD) announces today that the Board of Trustees unanimously and successfully approved during a Special Called Board Meeting a $500 stipend for all full-time and permanent part-time employees. “This stipend is being made for the public educational purpose of working during some very difficult and trying times of a national pandemic and to further incentivize and retain employees at the district,” said Dr. Rene Gutierrez, Superintendent of Schools of Brownsville Independent School District. “The funds for these compensation payments will come from the American Rescue Plan (ARP) Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER III) funds.” The district will distribute payment on December 17, 2021, for full-time employees and permanent part-time employees who were employed as of December 1, 2021, and who remain employed by the district on December 17, 2021.
