EDINBURG – The Hidalgo County Criminal District Attorney’s Office, in partnership with Safe H.A.V.E.N. Forensic Unit at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance and the Texas Council on Family Violence, will commemorate Domestic Violence Awareness Month with the fourth annual “Purple Day” news conference and informational fair from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 2, at the Edinburg Conference Center at Renaissance, located at 118 Paseo Del Prado in Edinburg.

“Domestic Violence has been seen as a silent issue or something that happens behind closed doors for too long,” said DA Ricardo Rodriguez Jr. “We have the opportunity to use our collective voices and bring this crime out of the shadows. We can use our voices to educate others about the impact of domestic violence and encourage victims to seek safety and protections.”

Domestic violence impacts millions of people each year, but it can be prevented. It requires the collective voice and power of individuals, families, institutions, and systems working together to end domestic violence.
