McAllen ISD had 47 students earn a spot on the All Region Middle School Band following auditions, recently, at the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) Region XV Middle School Region Band auditions.
Five students from McAllen ISD earned first chair for their instrument. The students are:
- Diego Guerrero, Cathey Middle School – First chair Bassoon
- Karla Hernandez, Cathey – First chair Clarinet (out of 75 students)
- Elliot Davis, Fossum Middle School – First chair Contra Bass Clarinet
- Robert Garza-Johnson, Morris Middle School – First chair Trumpet (out of 75 students)
- Kevin Cruz, Brown Middle School – First chair Tuba
“Being chosen as the top performer in any of these sections is an amazing feat,” McAllen ISD Fine Arts Director Jim Egger said.
All 47 of these students will present the TMEA Region XV Region Middle School Band Concert on Saturday, January 25, at the McAllen Performing Arts Center. The Middle School Concert will begin at 4 p.m.
“Congratulations to all of these very talented McAllen ISD band students and their hard working band teachers,” Egger said.
