41st Annual Collage to Support IMAS, Honoring Laura Warren Ogletree

McAllen, TX- The International Museum of Art & Science (IMAS) is thrilled to present its 41st Collage Annual Gala to be held on Saturday, September 14, 2019, at the Edinburg Conference Center at Renaissance. Collage is supported by Legacy Title Sponsor The Warren Group Architects Inc. Collage is the premier black-tie event hosted by the IMAS in support of its programs and exhibitions. 

This year the International Museum of Art & Science is honoring Laura Warren Ogletree, museum supporter, former trustee, and principal architect at The Warren Group Architects Inc., at the Collage Annual Gala. Laura is an exemplary citizen and long-time supporter of the IMAS. Her service on the Board of Trustees included serving two terms as its chair and an ongoing commitment through executive and fundraising committees. Laura opened her doors to support the IMAS for the Legacy of Love, and she generously provided her expertise for the development of the Seed to Table exhibit. Her contributions, expertise and service have enabled the museum to improve its service the community and advance its mission. 

Laura’s commitment to her community is all encompassing. “Visiting the International Museum of Art and Science and seeing the children and families smiling, that is what is so wonderful about community service. People may never know your name or see your face, but you are impacting lives. You are providing hope and a better quality of life and you take that with you.”

Each year, the funds raised through Collage help the museum fulfill its mission by presenting a wide range of engaging art and science exhibits, cultural events and educational programs to all people, regardless of income level. 

The gala will include live music including a special duo performance by Valley Symphony Orchestra, entertainment by Bubba McNealy, silent auctions including an array of art, special dining experiences, décor items, and more. Live auction items will include original paintings by Luis Sotil and Kirk Clark, exclusive tickets to “live” tapings, luxurious dinners, stunning jewelry, and one-of-a-kind experiences. By engaging children, by preserving and interpreting cultural heritage, and by giving tourists another reason to visit McAllen, the IMAS helps expand our region’s educational, cultural, and economic development.

McAllen International Museum was founded on June 2, 1967 through the efforts of the Women’s Junior Service League and the McAllen City Commission. The McAllen International Museum affectionately known as MIM started operations and opened their doors on October 26, 1969 in a 5,000-sq. ft. building on Quince Ave. Currently the IMAS serves over 70,000 visitors per year in its 50,000 sq. ft. facility on the corner of Nolana and Bicentennial avenues in the heart of McAllen. 

IMAS has delighted visitors by featuring the finest national and international art and science exhibitions while providing exceptionally engaging educational programs since its establishment on June 2, 1967.
